Amuseables Carole Canelé is no ordinary pastry – she’s a crème-de-la-crème craftswoman. Having traded the kitchen for a studio bench, she now spends her days shaping light itself. Her glasswork is extraordinary: glass vases that shimmer like spun sugar, sculptures that defy gravity itself. Her friends don’t quite understand how she does it (Amuseables Brigitte Brioche thinks it must be magic), but Carole just smiles. Precision, patience and a steady hand – that’s her secret recipe. The name Jellycat was dreamt up by a child who loved jellies and cats and giggled at the thought of the two together. The silliness of the name was a great reflection of the design, and so it stuck! Jellycat has been designed in the UK since the beginning and continues to work with designers at Jellycat HQ in London and around the country.
